Note: With the Working Holiday Visa, you are allowed to stay in New Zealand for either up to 12 months or 23 months. If you apply for the visa for up to 23 months, you will have to provide a medical exam/x-ray during your visa application. You can also study or train for up to 6 months in total.

Canadians can apply for the duration of 12 months or 23 months for the Working Holiday Visa in New Zealand. If you choose a 12 month visa and decide you want to stay longer, you can apply later for the balance of the 23-month period – you will need to pay another application fee.
You can work in most jobs – typical jobs include hospitality, agriculture, and tourism roles. However, you cannot accept a permanent job.
You need to show proof of sufficient funds to support yourself when applying, generally at least $4,200 NZD. Additionally, you must have a return ticket or sufficient funds to purchase one at the end of your stay. The visa application fee costs $420 NZD.
